Ben Thompson and Andrea Jewell of Armstrong Thompson gave a presentation comparing the English common law system and New Zealand’s accident compensation system. On balance, they found that the NZ no-fault scheme serves an injured person better. However, changes to the scheme itself – and to the way in which it is administered – mean that NZer’s are getting less in return for the surrender of the right to sue.
